NOTICE: Village Pond Refurbishment
Works commence Monday 28th July
The Parish Council has commissioned works to be carried out to the Village Pond. These comprise of the removal and disposal of the Pond’s contents by a specialist contractor.
This will involve the use of specialist machinery and equipment to dilute the thick “sludge” using water supplied by water tanker, they will then suck out the pond contents and pump it into other tankers to be taken to a licensed facility for safe disposal.
Consequently the grassed area around the pond will be very busy and will be restricted to the contractor’s access and use. The contractor will have a portaloo on the grassed area exclusively for their use.
The adjacent roads will NOT be closed, but the contractor will need the road around the perimeter of the pond to be kept clear for access to the pond and parking of these vehicles.
The contractor will endeavour to minimise any disturbance and will clean up after the works, but by their nature, these are likely to be messy, with potential splashes from the sludge.
The Parish Council respectfully ask that you please DO NOT PARK vehicles around the pond during the works.
The works will start on 28th July (after the start of the school holidays) with a working day circa 8.00am to 6.00pm.
They are expected to take up to 3 or 4 days. The duration is dependent on the ease with which the diluted “sludge” can be extracted.
Once empty, the pond liner will be examined to determine its condition and if found necessary, will subsequently be replaced. In addition, consideration will be given to improving the aesthetic aspects of the pond perimeter.
If, during the works, you see something that concerns you, first discuss this with the contractor’s on site representative and if still not satisfied report the details ASAP to our project representative, Paul Winstone tel 01256 397393 at 3 Pond View Cottages who will be conducting a watching brief during the works.
