‘Providing recreational facilities and opportunities to enhance the wellbeing of those who live in and around North Waltham’
Mike Robinson, Chair, opened the evening by thanking those who had attended. The Chair explained the Trustee’s objective of re-energising the Trust through improved community engagement and a focus on facilities and events.
The Chair noted that COVID-19 challenges had been eased by financial grants from Basingstoke and Deane Council which replaced lost income from the closure of the Pavilion and curtailment of events.
Key highlights of the past year include:
- The introduction of a Facebook page, adding to the Parish Magazine, website, and a new Pavilion noticeboard to enable regular communication.
- Rendering and painting of the Pavilion, which has received positive feedback, along with normal routine maintenance.
- Following an inspection, diseased trees have sadly been felled. 25 new trees and 30m of hedging, however, were planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy Jubilee celebrations.
- Planning permission was granted for the outdoor Table Tennis Table and Petanque court.
- Introduction of ‘Food Vans on Cuckoo Meadow’ has been positively received and generated a small income.
- Formation of a Trustee Strategy Subgroup, tasked with reviewing and improving our current practices, commenced with a review of our Mission statement and values.
During 2022 we look forward to a year of events which will be published through all communication channels in due course.
Trustee elections followed, consisting of three life members, eight publicly elected members and village organisation Trustee nominations. The Chair invited anyone interested in becoming a Trustee or wishing to volunteer on a more informal basis to make contact. The Chair thanked everyone for their support and looked forward to the year ahead.
