We have had a little response to our plea last month for villagers to consider joining the Trust as a Trustee to help manage Cuckoo Meadow and the Pavilion for the Village. Thank you to those who have contacted us but we do need several more people to join us and share the work.
As an independent Charity it is up to us to manage everything for our community – it is nothing to do with the Council. What happens if we do not get enough people willing to do the work? Well, the current Trustees will not be willing to continue to manage the Trust with an ever increasing workload and fewer Trustees – we do have other things to do! So we would contact the Charity Commission to see what happens to wind up the Charity and hand the land back to them. We don’t know what that means for the future – they would have to find someone else to take it over – probably Basingstoke Council and we would be subject to their resource input for maintenance and grass cutting etc. I am sure that is not what we want.
WE NEED TO SORT THIS OUT BY END JANUARY and make decisions when we hold our annual meeting (below). So, if you can help and would like to find out more about what is involved please contact me: mike.robinson@northwaltham.net or any of the other Trustees.
