Unfortunately not the guys in Bearskins but the Village Trust Trustees. At least two of our stalwart Trustees will be standing down at the Annual Meeting in February, and our bookkeeper is also taking a break. So we need to ask the village NOW to find some new people to serve on the Trust. At least two other Trustees are looking to do significantly less due to family commitments. With most of us over the age of seventy, we ought to retire, and the Trust faces a huge loss in terms of experience and background knowledge.
We need to urgently find a new Treasurer, Contract Manager and people to help with organising the maintenance of the Meadow, Communications, events and fund raising. Six new Trustees would help share the work and take the pressure off the other Committee Members so that everyone does a manageable role. Without more support, the Trust will inevitably be unable to run the Meadow and Pavilion the way we have done for many years.
Remember, the Trust is your Charity, which owns and manages Cuckoo Meadow and the pavilion on behalf of the whole community. It is our collective responsibility. If we can’t operate, then the facilities will be left to decline and eventually become unusable.
We have a little time before the Annual Meeting. So, if you can help and would like to find out more about what is involved please contact me: mike.robinson@northwaltham.net or any of the other Trustees.
