A303 Weekend Closures

by | Sep 7, 2017 | Parish Council

A303 Thruxton/Andover (Hampshire) – Bridge Refurbishment – Weekend Closure Update
Work to the bridges at Thruxton Hill, Kimpton Quarley and Picket Twenty has now started.
To allow the waterproofing material beneath the carriageway surface to be replaced, we will need to fully close the A303 for entire weekend periods (9pm Friday through to 6am Monday).

These closures have been scheduled for the following weekends, but are subject to change:

Thruxton Hill/Kimpton Quarley
• Friday 15 to Monday 18 September – A303 EASTBOUND carriageway closed from the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction to the A343 Hundred Acre junction
• Friday 22 to Monday 25 September – A303 WESTBOUND carriageway closed from the A343 Hundred Acre junction to the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction

Picket Twenty
• Friday 3 to Monday 6 November – A303 EASTBOUND carriageway closed from the A343 Hundred Acre junction to the A3093 Picket Twenty junction
• Friday 1 to Monday 4 December – A303 WESTBOUND carriageway closed from the A3093 Picket Twenty junction to the A343 Hundred Acre junction

Please note that these dates are subject to change – confirmed dates will be displayed in advance on signs along the A303, on the Highways England website and via the media.

During the closures clearly signed diversions will be in place (see attached letter and poster). We are expecting these routes to be extremely busy, therefore alternative routes will be signed further afield for these long distance drivers travelling between the London/east area and the West Country.

Significant delays are expected during these weekend closure periods, and we are advising all road users to plan ahead of their journey to allow for extra time or avoid this route where possible.

We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption during our work. We will make every effort to manage noise levels and any additional lighting carefully to minimise the local impact.

If you have any questions, or if you’d like you know about our work please contact us on 0300 123 5000 or email info@highwaysengland.co.uk, or you can visit our website at www.highways.gov.uk/roads
